Banty Red Pure Kodachrome #351 "1960" TED WILLIAMS, Boston Red Sox PACK-FRESH 1/1
Our Pure Kodachrome set expands to the 60’s in 2025. Card #350 features Bill Mazeroski celebrating his game-winning homer in the ‘60 series and #352 features Yogi Berra slamming a 3-run homer off Roy Face to give the Yankees a short lead.
Sandwiched between them is card #351, our final appearance of Ted Williams as a player. The veteran, who would retire as arguably the game’s greatest hitter, cleans dirt from his spikes in September at Washington. He would play the final homestand and retire 10 days later, giving way to Carroll Hardy in left field. Williams finished his aged 41 campaign narrowly missing the batting title with .316 (teammate Pete Runnels hit .320) and hit 29 homeruns while slugging .645—the highest in history for a player over 40 years old. Sadly, his Red Sox would lose 89 games and Ted was ready to go fishing full-time.
A wonderful card of some historical significance. This is the only “pack-fresh” copy we will offer.
